This site has not been updated for nearly a year as there is not enough content!

Come on everyone and submit any content that you have, to Glen.

Also, lets post any ideas for future updates here.

Cheers.

I would love to see more photos from the 80s, particularly of Skeggy and Minehead.

Perhaps if there were enough photos there could be seperate sections for each main building / attraction

Each of these sections would contain photos of that attraction and a detailed history and timeline including what has become of the area now, individuals memories of the building and its various uses and changes over the years.

Als perhaps a section for movies (eg the monorail and chairlift movies, tv ads), and a section for music files to download

I have already suggested this to Glen, and I would be happy to see if it is possible:

A "This day in Butlins history" Feature, where you get news about what happened at Butlins on the day's date, but in previous years

I have started making a list of dates (but so far I only have 27 dates!)

I have also e mailed my "Butlins over the years feature."

Cheers.

Nor me. Sites can only be updated if people help out and give material. If I had some to give I would help but sadly I don't. Good luck with the site though! By the way if anyone has any Pontins Dolphin photos please contact me. Am always looking for new stuff for my website and Yahoo Group. :D

What about an e bay request page?

As an example, if I wanted to buy "The Billy Butlin Story", I could enter it on the page and then, when someone puts it on e bay, they would click a button on the page and then I would automatically be notified by e mail.

We could try and encorage all people selling Butlins Items on E bay to put a link to the page, too.

Hi everyone

Yes it's been a while since the last update, the reason being that I just haven't had any spare time to do it. Plus the material has also dried up a bit. But I've been burning the midnight oil lately and the next update should appear in a couple of weeks. It'll be around 200 new images plus a couple of articles. And if I get time I'll also include a Butlins Winter Breakaway brochure from 1991/92 (80 pages). But in future, instead of doing big updates every few months, I'll try and do little updates every few weeks.

Talking of brochures, it would be great to add some more summer brochures to the site, particularly those from the 1980s or earlier. If anybody has one, and doesn't mind scanning the whole thing, then please feel free to send it along. I'm sure a lot of us would love to see it. (if scanning brochures please make the images pretty large so that any writing can be read). The same goes for entertainment guides and the old 'Butlins News' newletters. I've got some old entertainment guides from the 1960s so I'll get those scanned and uploaded in due course.

Cheers, Glen

can't wait for the update.

I did have more images to upload but my hard disk failed a couple of weeks ago so I lost them all. At the moment I cannot re-scan them as my scanner doesn't work with XP.

When I get a new scanner I will upload more!

I'm about to move house in a couple of days, but once unpacked at the other end, I shall scan a load of stuff I've got from Ayr and send it on to Glen, including an entertainment programme, staff foties and Haven Ayr, 2003.

Cant wait for the update!!!

I think that the popularity of the site has gone down, i.e. this forum, chat room etc, has been due to the lack of updates. I know that I dont come on here as much as i used to, as it is the same material each time i come on.

I understand that it is difficult to update when there is not much info to include in the update, but people would come on more if they thought there was an update.

I have some photos and leaflets etc from ayr, however i dont have access to a scanner to send them to Glen.

Anyway well done to everyone for keeping the site going by adding your comments and giving me fresh material to read each week. A big thanks to Glen for the hard work involved in running the site.

Here is a badge that can be added in an update.

It is a badge from the mid 90's and has already been optimised.

Another idea that I've had is to have "Butlins Desktop Wallpaper".

I've got a few ideas of images to use, but as they would be screen size, they would need to be better quality and higher resoloution.

Cheers.

The site will hopefully be updated again this coming weekend. Several new things being added: two complete summer brochures (1978 and 1983), a 1970s Beachcomber Bar Menu (30p for a cocktail or 14p for a lager!), a 1955 Pwllheli entertainment guide, a 1970s staff recruitment brochure plus a handful of postcards and anything else I have time to fit in.

Cheers, Glen
