Im becomming really annoyed with the amount of people coming on here as "guest" (I dont mean you "The Guest") and making bitchy, snidey and sometimes rude comments to people who have actually bothered to give their name. If you look at the Queues thread or the camp colours thread there is a "guest" on there who is extremley insulting and very rude to marie bollen, yet he or she doesnt have the decency to sign and and give their name.

Come on guys stop hiding behind the "guest" mask lets know who you all are then maybe your comments will be taken seriously!

i agree 100%. it doesnt take long to give yourself a name.also even if you dont agree with a point someone is making there is no need to resort to making insults, it is very childish (sort of thing children would do in a playground)

think on one of my topics a guest has added a sarcastic comment, it is annoying when you have gone to the effort to share something with people.

if you havent anything interesting to add and all you wana do is be insulting to people dont bother.

I agree 100%.

Could admin turn off the "Guest" feature so that people need to sign in.

Cheers.

Turning of 'guest' sign-in would be a pity as it is a nice and easy way to leave a quick comment, and you can still give a guest name without signing in - but seems it is becoming more necessary with abusive posts.

Sadly, my user id and password do not work and when I try to input another, it says I already have an id at my email address! I was registered okay on the old forum.

The Guest/KAF/Keith/r.franklin1 - whichever I remember to use!

When I joined in March everyone was happy and friendly and we all chatted about our memories of Butlins. There was no arguments between people and if there were they were light hearted. Now all I see here is old v new Butlins and arguments. Lets all chill out and get back to chatting about our memories, and everyone PLEASE LEAVE A NAME!

To whoever this phantom 'guest' is.

YOU ARE A COMPLETE AND UTTER COWARD.

I agree with Tom, there must be a way of not letting 'Guest's post, thereby ensuring all the comments can be attributed to the relevent postee.

There, rant over.

Wouldn't the best thing be that guests can read all forums but can't post until registered.

There's enough form filling software out there to make registering a matter of clicks, roboform for an example.

Why don't all the genuine forumees just ignore the Guests and don't reply to there posts. They might just get the idea then.

I am experiencing the same problem as Keith Franklin (or "Guest" as he is sometimes known!). When I try to sign in under my original username and password, I can't get on but when I then try to re-register I get a message telling me that someone else(me I assume) is registered from that email address. Which makes me wonder what happens if two people who use the same computer want to register under different usernames? I'm happy for my username to be seen but don't know anything about computers beyond the on/off button so wouldn't know how to set any automatic login, which would be difficult anyway since the site won't let me get on under my original name. Any suggestions please?

Hello,

If anyone is having problems with their login, please e-mail me with the following details.

E-Mail Address they registered with
& their User Name

my e-mail address is Kevin@blackboxtelecom.co.uk

Regarding guest posters?
The decision was taken to enable guests to post, simply to encourage more people to post on the forums. Looking through the forums most guest comments are a valued contribution to the forum, the same goes for most registered user posts.
For the time being guest posters will continue to have access to reply to posts, only when things start to become out of hand will we re-consider this set-up.

Kind Regards
Kevin Christoforou

No offence to the Forum Author, but it might turn out like another forum I was once member to.

The forum was plagued by immature young teenagers, and the Admins/MODs had enough to deal with. Having Guests turned on is even worse, because then you can get anyone posting.

The forum eventually closed, but there was light of another forum that was behind it. One where quality members would post and talk about the subject in hand. It worked well, although I was never a member of the "secret forum".

I do not wish to advertise as such, and I know that some wont like it, but if the Guest problem gets worse, then it might be a better turn to start a new forum. I have just finished mine, and it is slowly being used. I could easily set up a Butlins section, and sue to the name, Wizzy World, it *should* get market.

One other thing to note, You should always check the ""Log Me In Automatically" button when using the forum at home, or at work (if you have your own PC) as this sets a cookie to log you in everytime you post here. In regards to people having trouble signing up with their email address, that again is up to the forum Administrator. He or She can set it so you can sign up with the same email address more than once, or not. There are many modifications that allow you to overcome this problem. One is that a tick box appears on your profile allowing you to delete yourself from the forum (so you can sign up again, using the same email address).

Although, I understand if this post has been deleted, or edited, I just wish to keep people happy, and Butlins talk alive :P If you would like to know more, then feel free to email me, or Private Message me. Sorry for the long post.
Pete

Kerry, don't always take things so personally babe, I am the mother of three teenage boys, and believe me, they are the best dudes you'll ever meet, but just like most people in life, there's the bad with the good, you're the good !!!!

The good teenagers are the good ones, however, it is the bad ones that make them all seem bad.

Another example is Rocker/Skater people. I am a Skater, and I am a good boy, yet, the stereotypical view on them (and Gothy people) is that we're all up to no good, when it is just the silly ones who think they are IT that makes people think we're all like that.

However, I had a contact, and I think things might improve here :D

Thanks,MarieMarie there is a guest who has made some not so nice comments about you on some of the posts you have left. You might be the sort of person that doesnt offend easily as the "guest" is pretty childish but the best way to see what he/she has said about you is to look back at some of the posts you've made recently and see if he's replied, i know he/she made a comment about you in the "have you ever met a miserable redcoat?" thread and I think the "Waht would Sir Billy think of todays Butlins".
