Haven Primrose Valley

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any old images of Haven's Primrose Valley holiday camp. I stayed there pretty much every year during the 1980s but don't really have any photos of the camp. Also, any info on the history of the camp would be much appreciated.

Worked at PV in 97 when Clive Allerston was the GM and Dave Wood was the bars manager. Great season, great cabarets. All went a bit Pete Tong from there on I reckon. Certainly changed when BL took over.

Worked at Primrose Valley in 97 as Asst Ents Manager. Dickie Mellor was the presenter in Jesters, Tony Jnr was Kids Ents and Mad Mandy Pook was the presenter in Windsors. Ice Trax were the Resident band in Jesters and Hands Off were res. in Windsors! Rab was the catering manager, lovely bloke. It was a great season. Enjoyed some good cabarets that year. It all went a bit down hill after that. I certainly noticed a difference upon my return to Haven in 2001! Can you remember Lyndsay Stewart? She would have been a Haven Mate at Blue Dolphin same time I was at Prim.:confused:

97 was a good year at the dolphin, chris sibley - ents manager - legend!
some good havemates that year.

Isn't it strange that two guys who helped run PV years ago, now OWN Bourne Leisure. The story is that BL bought Haven from Rank for PV.

Wavey davey was a cabaret of ours when i work at ty mawr he was the cabret in coco's every other thursday and chris sibley did my atr training at devon cliffs in 99 seminar!! how spooky.

pv is one of best haven holiday site i have come across, it is very much like butlins apart from you have to pay for the fun fair, and there is more to do the pv haven site during the day than there is on the other haven sites

I was unfortunate enough to work at P.V. I say unfortunate because it wasn't Butlins but in any case. The complex manager at the time was one of bournes own boys sent to put the place right very nice bloke to be honest. we had all B.L top brass down one day and i was told that one of the two that own BL actually designed windsors as a young man and how he had come full circle then buying the whole site back years later. That was a strange season the majority of managers, Team Leaders etc were all from british holidays parks sent to put the place right. please dont be offended if there are any of you on here but some of them seemed completly brainwashed into bourne leisure is the best in the world etc.
I requested a transfer to butlins and when asked why i told them i had nothing against haven but i didn't think it provided value for money like butlins did. I was promtly Told. You DONT work for Haven or Butlins Or Warner they are just brands You work for bourne leisure limited to which i replied well can i have my transfer.

aloha Jules, yes TJ is almost a geordie (just 7miles frm newcastle, tho a red + white fan) and also an ex-redcoat (5 full yrs, 85,86,87,88,89) used to do main summers at ayr, the winters at brighton hotel, or bognor or minehead.

then became ents manager for bourne before being asked to join Primrose as family room presenter - which i did for 5 yrs (not the tiger club/ kids presenter, the havenmates did tht).

Spent most of my time as Princes Presenter, but also Jesters an Windsors out of season. Wen first started, the room was a 1500 people venue - now it is a posh toilet!

Jesters wa built in my 2nd season coz the family room was too busy ... an yet now, Princes is no-longer there - so where did all those people go?

still in the ents game (ents manager and area ents manager frm 98 til 2004) an still visit all haven parks as a Cabaret

Dicky spent his 1st season as a presenter at PV in 96, an at beginnin of
season he spent time learnin all my kids gameshows an adult gameshows, so he cud do thm in Jesters lol

Definitely Not. The David Schofield who became GM at PV originally started at Butlins Clacton as an Amusement Park Maintenance fitter in the late seventies.

Didn't he go to PV from Haggeston Castle, if so he was due to start at Butlins Filey in 1983. I thought it was as GM but it could have been in another position.

He was at haggy . He was a big cheese of BL. Until they got him.
