View Full Version : What jobs do people have?!
I know this sort of fits in with the topic about 'how Butlins affected what you did in later life', however, I was just interested to know what job everybody does (now that we have seen many of you in rainbow's photo topic!)
You dont have to be specific or mention a certain company!

I have 2 paid jobs and 1 unpaid.
Paid job 1 = I am a 'jobsearch trainer' working for a quasi-government agency trying to force lazy unemployed morons to accept one of the many perfectly good jobs we offer them, under threat of losing their dole!
(sorry I am getting slightly cynical)Similar to my old job, I understand the cynisism!!

You know I don't want to sound cynical either, but the last time I had anything to do with Jobsearch or its equivalent was about 15 years ago when the useless pack of no hopers offered me a job counting cars at a roundabout. Perfect for my skill levels, god knows why I bothered getting a degree.
No offence Pushbutton but the 'Lazy unemployed moron' bit pushes my buttons bad.
I now run my own Computer Repair biz.

Ian don't take my comments personally, but unfortunately you were in the minority. Most people I have to deal with do not want to work. There's plenty of work available but people go out of their way to avoid it!

I work for dee valley water local water authority.
we cover Wrexham,Chester,Parts of the Wirral and merseyside,And parts of shropshire. I personaly drive a rough terrain fork lift to different sites to unload pipes and water mains fittings so we can put new water mains on new housing estates. I am based in our Wrexham depot so if we are doing a job in Chester or Merseyside i have to drive there on the truck. Sometimes it can take ages to get there as the truck only does about 20 miles an hour so if i have held you up on the A483 or the M52 i appologize.
I'm a HR manager for Royal Mail. It?s a bit of a change for me as prior to that I was a leisure centre manager for 12 years and how did I get into that....from my time as a Butlins lifeguard.

Well, I have the best (& worst) job in the world....full time Mum!
Its a very hard, but very rewarding job....but the money is terrible!!!
My daughter will start school in September, so I shall have to find work then. I am hoping to get work in a school as some sort of classroom assistant. I've just finished one course and help out in school when I can...so I'll see how it goes.

I used to work for Marks and Spencer for 4 years, as a store services advisor. The main parts of the job was opening and closing of the shop, and dealing with the textiles deliverys in the afternoons. It was a job i'd never thought i'd get, and was shocked to have passed the interview and have the job. The bad parts was the long 12 hour days.
I am currently on a career break now for a while.

I dont need to tell you all what I do, but it was never what I intended doing all my life. I left the Royal Navy in 1989, and intended to train for the ministry with the hope of joining the seamans mission. But I met the wife and all those plans changed, as she is disabled and looking after her is a honour its maybe my new calling in this life. My last butlins visit was Ayr 1983. But as you all know I have a special place in my heart for Filey.
Im a very low paid Nursey Nurse studying for my NVQ in child care. Just finished Level 2 and will start Level 3 next year. Ive done loads though worked in Mcdonalds, Burger King, Harvey Nicks, hotels, Morrisons lol been everywhere
