Idea for Minehead!

Just a different idea for Butlins, maybe they should consider installing a BMX track or a skateboard ramp (halfpipe), considering that extreme sports seem to be in at the moment.

Looking back, Butlins Skeggy always did have a BMX track anyway!

This could easily be added at Minehead, considering the vast amount of space they have got.

Another idea for that vacant space is that they could put some caravans on it.

What are your thoughts on that idea?

Hi,

Where are you talking about, which bit of land should there be caravans on?

I don't disagree about extending the caravan area if it would help fund other improvments elsewhere within the complex so that everyone can get more for their money while on holidays.

I'd rather see caravans than run down chalets/staff accomodation.

You would expect every bit of space to be used for something. But I doubt if anything like BMX or skateboards would be entertained.... too much of a chance of litigation following injuries!

Despite disclaimers there'll be some out there who will sue if anyone gets injured - a sad world we live in.

Used to be just get up brush yourself off and learn from the experience - never a thought about how much money you could get out of it because it wasn't properly supervised etc....

Still there's plenty of things that could be done... even caravans!!

That said, I am sure that Butlins teamed up with Eastpak a year or so ago, which are a group that does skateboarding etc. (Some of you that saw the Holiday Swap programme which featured Butlins may remember this).

Also, where I live, there is a skateboard/bmx ramp which was provided by the council, and this has no disclaimers and it is not supervised either.
