We went to brean in 2000 and i didn't think much to it whatsoever its so old looking and drab , i still stick to burnham on sea holiday village just 5 minutes around the corner , after visiting brean we have never gone to another Pontins camp as this put us right off.

I loved Pontins Southport but my last visit to Pontins in Brean was horrible, it was 16 years ago though so am hoping for some improvements. I really wish I had booked up for Burnham now.

As I said after my last visit (2yrs ago) it would be improved by adding a gym (for the Dads) and hairdressers/beauty place (for Mums) and an Internet cafe (for kids). I would be interested to see if they have any of these yet. I will probably pop down the M5 in the summer hols to have a look round and be nosey.

I only went to Brean once and that was for a day in 1996. I was working at Sand Bay at the time and my friend from home was on holiday there with her children. It did look pretty old and drab and my main thought about the place was for a family camp, its not a patch on Butlins. They have probably been refurbished since then, but I remember the chalet my friend was staying in wasn't up to much.
I did enjoy the day though , but that was mainly because I was catching up with a friend I hadn't seen for a long while. I also had some friends from South Downs that later went to work there, but the next year they were back at South Downs working.

I know a holiday is what you make it, but Brean wouldn't be my choice of a holiday venue unless it has changed significantly since my day trip ten years ago!!

I had all these comments last year when I said I was going to Pontins Southport and yet when I got there I really liked it. For me and Rach this is just a small getaway break, I want to go back to Burnham as I havent been there for years and Rachel likes Weston. We have paid ?140 for the 4 nights in club accomodation there was no way we could get it that cheap at the Haven camp in Burnham.

We are using Pontins as a base, but its good to know should we choose we can go swimming and watch the shows. Its not as good as Butlins and I cant wait for my week at Minehead in September, but Im still looking forward to Pontins too.

I am look forward to your return from Brean BIF, and I hope you will take loads of pictures of the place. Might go down in the summer if you say its any good. We always used to go to the ?1 shop opposite and the Pink Flamingo pub (maybe not there anymore). Have a good one and look forward to hearing about it.

I am taking a camera this time so will get lots of pictures. I havent been to Pontins at Brean for 16 years and havent been to Brean itself for about 12 years so am looking forward to seeing how it has/hasnt changed. Only a week to go now, it may not be Butlin's but im still excited!!
