Thought we'd try GOLD accomodation as a treat.
We'd done self catering, and Silver half board situated in Oyster Bay,and Starfish Quay.
This time with GOLD we were in The Keys,as there were five of us(including two children) we had three bedrooms,Top floor
l didnt know what l expected really but being GOLD imagined a very De-Luxe accomodation,BUT it was no different from Oyster Bay and Starfish Quay.
Only difference was a larger TV and one in the master!! bedroom,
Towlels changed (six) every day but Wednesday
House keeper, who just emptied the bin, supplied tea sugar and milk(small satchets, but only enough for 3 cups)and a new toilet roll.
Free DVDs and eating in the Yacht club
Think for the difference in price we will be back to Silver half board next visit,

Never tried gold, but doesn't sound worth it for that. Maybe the main difference with gold is if you pay for bb & evening meals? Then you get to eat in the posh yacht club.

Nothing Posh about the Yacht club KAF, just less people, mostly help yourself, food nothing special,l think l enjoyed the Ocean Drive and Carol Beach as good.
An excellent variety of vegatables,But most of the time the Parsnips and Brocoli, which l love were too hard, undercooked most of the time
A plus is that if you wanted an omellette or stir-fry they would cook one for you.
Whilst l was having a shower l adjusted the shower head and the whole shower bar came down off the wall,But they did fix a new unit same morning
l thought to myself l wonder if our KATH had used this accomodation before me!!!!!!!!

Gold is out of the question for us as its minimum of 4 but at Minehead at least they are all those appartment blocks which I dont like anyway. As I said before I did liek deluxe and will go again but if we ever go self catering it's good old standard, I dont think you can beat standard self catering, even if you dont get a microwave!

I have to say the yacht club is nice and peacfull compared to ocean drive, but we would rather go deluxe and eat in ocean drive than go gold and eat in yacht club, i think dan has also said this but we hate those 3 storey apartments there very small.

We for me if going half board for 7 nights it will now be delxue (if we can get it), otherwise silver. At Minehead I cant stand standard half board, and I dont like Coral Beach dining room either. I do like Ocean Drive has a really good atmosphere but it does get very busy!
Self Catering though standard is fine. The kitchen is perfectly acceptable (we dont use a microwave anyway), it is roomy and the decor is nice and tidy. Those silver apartments are the pits at Minehead, too small, too noisey and too much of a hassle bringing luggage into, it doesnt feel like a Butlins chalet at all!

We went gold at bognor last year and it was no better than the standard accomadation we stayed at in skegness, we didn't even get to eat at a better resturant as the yacht club had not been built, is that still the case?
We always go gold at skegness, having tried the other levels many times. I much prefer the yacht club as it is much quieter and i prefer the food.
We are thinking of going to minehead this year but i think we will just be going standard half board this time as i remember the higher levels being no better, however have not been since 2004 so things may have changed.

well as bognor is so small. and the 2 restaurant for half and full board tack up about 9% of the Space! there is just no room at all for a yacht club,
but i do believe that you get to eat free in pinewood one next to all-days
and maybe the one in the hotel. i don't know 100%.
i just remember read it some ware i think.
Always go self-catering and Silver-Plus when it's me & the wife & my sister and her bloke. Great chalets with plenty of space and a nice big telly as well as a shower and bath !!!
If it's just me and the wife, we go Silver half-board.
Touch wood never had a bad room all the years we've been going.
Always wondered if going from Silver-plus to Gold would be worth it. Seems like you have anwsered it for me.
hi ive stayed in gold at bognor and to be honest it was nothing special.infact i think of off the silver apartments had slightly bigger rooms.
we had to wait for the place to be ready as it was still being cleaned on arrival,so much for early check in lol.
we only upgraded as the lady on the phone made it sound so wonderful but honestly its not.

We always go in Silver Plus bungalows. Loads of room, big Tv, bath and shower, nobody upstairs (obviously lol), not to far from the main hub of Butlins, quiet.

Wont Pay for gold when you have to walk half mile to get to the entertainment at Skeggie, at the times of year when the adult weekends are on its always freezing, standard ones are just a stones throw away from everything and how long are you in your rooms any way??
