I'll be there!
Can't wait till tomorrow, wish I had the day off of work but thankfully the boss is letting me leave early at 2:30 so I'll be at Minehead ASAP!
It's been ages since my last adult weekender (Hot Summer Party last June) so I'm very much looking forward to it.
Hope you have a top time Sammy!

Have a good time!!!!! :)
Well I am still hungover now!!!!! What a weekend that was and to be honest I cant tell you much about it due to the amount of Jack Daniels that was consumed I cant really remember much!
However I will give it a go-we got to Minehead about 1pm and went straight to Bar Rosso for the first beer of the day. Redcoat Chris was on the decks and the place was packed all ready.
We sat down and Chris shouted over "Oy, you were here recently" so I shouted back four months ago.........with that he shouted, thats right you were in the Irish bar with your baps out knocking everyone over! (Which I obviously was not!) I was mortified and went so red that I was burning.
Chris could see this so carried on-in the end he said he would stop if I brought him a drink.....so I brought him the nastiest shot I could and took it over-did he stop, NO! So red faced me decided that I couldnt take anymore and we went and got the chalet cards and went and unpacked.
Our chalet was a silver plus bungalow but based down by the Highwayman pub so we had quite a walk.........we had to use black bags to protect our hair in the evenings!
Friday night we went straight to Centre Stage to see Toyah Wilcox, Bucks Fizz and Mercury who were excellent.
Reds had Hazell Dean on but we never got there........we ended up in Jaks which was heaving followed by a Finnigans Kebab, got to bed at 4am!
Picture is of the girlies already for our night out-Saturday and Sunday to follow
Saturday started with a very sore head and a lot of dithering about whether we could actually face getting dressed let alone drink more, however after the greasy fry up we were ready to face the day and went to the Skyline for the afternoon shows.
Mitch Francis and Code red were on first singing all the tunes from the 80's and then we had Pixie Perez the drag queen who was hilarious.
Shame she/he was on in the Skyline as the aucostics were awful but we still enjoyed the show. A tribute to Tina Turner was next but we went to get some food and watch The Rugby in the Sun and the Moon..........fantastic atmoshere!
Back to the chalet then for a shower and change of clothes whilst we poured more Jack Daniels down our necks.
We started off in Reds first where we bought the lovliest white chocloate shots and listened to a tribute to Prince. Then it was on to Centre Stage for Doctor and the Medics and Bad Manners.
All I can remember from then on is 2000 people shouting at Buster bloodvessel "You fat b*****d" the dance floor was literally moving where everyone was jumping and I really thought we would end up falling into Reds!!!!!!!
After I finally found my shoes and glasses (long story!) we went onto Jaks again, really packed and everyone was up for a good time.
We left about 3am and got a Burger king-I then got lost and got rescued by Neil and his mates almost an hr later...........I really cant remember what I was doing!
Reds had on Nathan Moore from Brother Beyond, Junior and the DJ Pat Sharpe.
Sunday will have to wait till tomorrow, as will the pics as I really need to kip!

Sounds like another cracking weekend ...
I know what you mean about the floor bouncing with eveyone shouting at Buster! Crazzy!
I think you did so well managing to type that much .. I'm not sure I would have done the day after !!

OHHH nice one Sammy,
Just for the record anybody who has not seen Bad Manners at Butlins will be unable to realise what the dancefloor is like for their set. It is utter carnage and chaos and just loved by everyone. The whole place rocks from the front of stage to the chairs and tables against the back walls. And if they were on the same bill as DR and the medics well what a night that must have been, a totally fantastic live band that engages the whole audience.
Your chalet looks so clean and tidy, as whenever I go into a chalet occupied by ladies the tables are full of make up hair dryers and drink. You lot must be very tidy.
More on the weekend please.
Cheers

The chalet may have looked tidy but you should have seen the bedrooms!!!!!
9 of us went on this weekender, 5 girls and 4 blokes. We had two chalets next to each other but decided to move all the furniture into one chalet, so instead of 2 sofa's we had three, two dining tables and 9 chairs!!!! We also moved all the cutlery ect so you can imagine the state of the place.
We never got round to moving the beds though ha ha!
Sunday started pretty much the same as Saturday, we had such good intentions of makin use of the facilities but ended up chilling over breakfast and laughing about the behaviours of the night before.
I have to say the fancy dress on Sat night was excellent, Bill and Ben the flower pot men even let us water them, and the Pingus were well up for it.
We left the chalet eventually and went to Centre Stage for an afternoon beverage-it was heaving in there already. We sat and watched the Kylie tribute which I didnt think was great but she was followed by the legend Keith Harris who was great and got a standing ovation. Next on was Red Mick-tribute to Simply Red but we only watched a bit as we wanted to catch the end of the football so all trudged off to the Sun and Moon.
After eating more junk food (the diet has not gone well) we went back to the chalet to get ready for the last night.
Jaki Graham was on in Centre Stage who was amazing and right down on the dancefloor dancing with us all, she was followed by a tribute to UB40 and then Limahl-unfortunatey we didnt stay to see him as one of our dozey party had forgotton to book the Monday off work so we had to leave first thing yesterday morning to get him home in time (What a bloody idiot!)
To be honest though we were all hanging and ready for some kip after another fantastic weekender-cant wait till my hen weekend in June now!
Picture is of the girlies already for our night out-Saturday and Sunday to follow
You look fab!!! Aww - I can't wait to get there myself!! Your review was great - very detailed considering how many drinks you probably had! LOL! Well done!
Wow - your weekend sounds fab! Hope you're ready for your next one in a matter of weeks ;) (I prefer to use weeks rather than months, it sounds better!!) See you there!! :D
HI Sammy
Oh I so did laugh at thought of you lot moving all that furniture, I thought people only did that in the clubs, to get a better table, more chairs etc, bet it was was cosy in the one with all the stuff in the other one would of been great for a party, all that floor space!!!
Very bad planning indeed not to have booked a day off work, and how they managed to work a full day after that fill , drink fueled weekend!! Sounds like you had a wicked time, and more to come soon and it will all girlies!!!!
What lots of info about that when you get home please, and lots of pictures, of half naked men !!! ( not so bothered about pictures of buildings though) x

Not that i make (much) of a habbit of visiting girls chalets. Have you got any pics of the bedrooms for a laugh.
Sounds like another top weekend for the fancy dress, its so hard to do something original now as the standard is so high. Saw a couple of guys a few years ago dressed as Adam and eve and the one guy seemed to spend the whole time trying to prevent his fig leaf being ripped away. Needless to say the girls got it in the end, he put up a decent defence until about 12 of them rounded on him and then grounded him before emerging victorious with the leaf......... and his jock strap. So that is off of my list.
Cheers

I go into their chalets for comparison and investigation purposes only.
Always a good idea to keep the bed clear, once left a bottle of shampoo in the bed and then slept on the damn thing, what a mess that made.

I could nip up stairs and take a couple of my bedroom, if that is one wants!! no booze up there, but plently of the other stuff!!!!!!!
Oh course the girls would get it!!! and he so would want them to!! so I think thats a jolly good idea for you mate!!!!! would wear a nice sparkly thong under the fig leaf?? you might say you wont be able to find one big enough!!!! ( fig leaf that is) x

Yes, I prefer to count in weeks also-I make it 13 weeks on Friday is that right? Will be great to see you also..........need to come up with a theme though and as Sharkey said its so difficult to be original so any ideas please?x

LOL we have no intention of taking pics of buildings hun-bring on the naked men!
Neil has just boooked his stag weekend and 9 of them are of to Lisbon-he keeps mocking me for going to Butlins (again) but I would rather be there than bleeding Lisbon!
Moving the furniture was funny and as you said we had an empty chalet for a bloody good partyxx

i think you're right - because it's 9.5 weeks now to the BM get together. (How decadent am I?!)
Are we not doing Grease? Or are we doing Grease on the Friday and something else on the Saturday?? :D :D :D

Bet that was a squeeky clean night in bed then!!!! and why was a bottle of shampoo in the bed???? I usually keep that in the bathroom, or were you hiding it from the others, did not want them to see your grecian 2000!!!!! x

To be honest Kath I am really not sure of anything at this stage. One thing I do know is how much effort everyone puts into the fancy dress and I did see some Pink Ladies and the outfits looked quite tacky (sorry pink ladies if you read this) but I think that was due to the effort everyone else had made.
I spoke to the matron of honor about it and she told me to mind my own business, all will be revealed so as soon as they share the information with me I will let you knowxx

My girlfriend and I had an awesome time at the 80s Madness weekend too!
Arrived about 5pm on the Friday so checked in straight away and went to our room. We were doing silver half-board and our room was in row S of Ocean Point.
The room appeared to have been recently refurbed, there was still a faint smell of fresh paint. The bathroom especially appeared to be completely new, all new fittings, heated towel rail and a shower cubicle with a door rather than curtain.
Friday night we saw Toyah Wilcox, Hazell Dean, Bucks Fizz and Mercury. All good shows but Mercury were definitely the best! Lots of beer was consumed and we finally staggered to bed sometime after 2am after the obligatory stop at Burger King. A great night.
Saturday day-time we went swimming (lockers are free now, just insert 50p and get it back when you unlock), played on the machines, watched Code Red and Mitch Francis in the Skyline and saw some of the rugby.
Saturday night we saw Purple Rain (tribute to Prince), Atomic Blondie, Dr & The Medics (who were truly superb!) and a bit of Bad Manners. We ended up in Reds to see Pat Sharpe do his DJ set but first had to sit through the tail end of Junior's performance with the never-ending outro to his last song. It seemed to take forever. There's not much to say about Pat Sharpe really but I was impressed that he managed to work the "Funhouse" theme tune into his DJ set! Another 2am finish with a Burger King.
Sunday day-time was swimming and machines again followed by the afternoon show in Centre Stage. Faye as Kylie was ok but I've seen it too many times now. Keith Harris' adult show was legendary! Kind of mentally scarring to see puppets from my childhood swearing and being generally crude but I loved every minute of it!
Sunday night we saw Jaki Graham, Johnny 2 Bad (tribute to UB40) and Limahl to end our weekend. All good stuff. Can you guess what the last place we went to before heading to bed was? Yep, Burger King! What is it about being drunk that makes the whopper seem so appealing???
Left by 10 on Monday morning as I had to be in work for the afternoon. I was in total zombie mode though, wouldn't have gone in at all if I had any more days off left to use up!
All-in-all another amazing adult weekender at Butlins. We're already booked up for the Hot Summer Party in June (booked onsite during last year's HSP) so I can't wait for that now!
(sorry for the lengthy post, I got a bit carried away!)
Hey dont be sorry it was great reading, more of this from other members returning from a adult break please ( uni g are you reading this) if you read mine you would see yours is tiny compared to mine, and beleive me I leave a lot of my out!!!!!!
Junior did he not just have the one hit, mama used to say???? I do like that song but if thats the only one, no wonder you got fed up.
80s is not my fav decade for groups I must say, but it sounds great, I have seen the queen group before and they brill, never seen keith harris, doing his rudey act, hope he is coming to skegness in october, the on line, line up so to speak is very poor so far, but I know all the acts wont be confirmed as yet.
I thing for the best line up I have seen my last 70s break took some beating, just cant wait for the end of April for the next one, sure you will have a fab time at your next one too, x
Dr & The Medics (who were truly superb!)
Spot on mate this show is an absolute must, no ifs buts or maybe about it. Never mind that they only ever had one big hit the Dr and his crew of medics put on one heck of a live show. Full of energy that will have you completley blown out by the end. Did they do the throwing of 100s of loo rolls in to the audience???
Compare this show to the rather sipid Faye that does Kylie and there is no comparison at all. The DR's show is pure fun and energy and you can often see him at the bar after.
Cheers

Um, I don't remember any loo rolls being thrown into the audience and I'm pretty sure I wasn't drunk enough to forget it!
The main memory is of the "medic" whose job just seems to be dressing up in various outfits and looning about on the stage during the act. His stage sweeper (with big broom) and grim reaper (complete with scythe) outfits were ... interesting!
I remember when I first saw Faye as Kylie I thought she was really good but repeated viewings (I must have seen her 4 times now) have definitely now made her act boring to me.
We never set out specifically to see her now but she has this tendency of being on before stuff we are interested in. There's no escape!

Think yourself lucky that you only caught the end of Juniors set, Kath & I sat through his whole show last April in Bognor and it was painful!! We (and I think the whole of Reds) were so glad when Pat Sharpe came on afterwards! Always good to hear the Funhouse theme! :D

Totally out of the blue last night I got a call from Butlins asking me if I enjoyed my 80s Madness weekend and if I would like to book for next February's one at the same price I paid this year.
I said yes so I'll be there again in 2009!
Anyone else get called about this too?
All my holidays seem to be at Butlins - I'm going 3 times this year and now I'm already booked up for a 2009 break. I must be mental.

Cool! Never heard of them calling up with offers for you to book again .. but why not! They're getting you while the weekend is fresh in your mind and the chances are you'll want to go again! Good offer too!
We go in Nov and I usually book in Jan (once everyone's paid for Christmas)! So, I'll expect a call this year ....
Strange them ringing like that?? I have booked for a couple for 2009 as usually book as soon as I get home from one, as just cant wait to get back, plus you can get a single room if you book early enough!, if you book on site I think it is even cheaper, but the ques are massive and I am just to tried to que on a monday morning!! xx

*Kath goes glassy eyed at the painful memory of sitting through Junior's entire set last year*
I'm sure people could have used that evening as an effective torture device!! I'm sure he is a very nice man but he sang the same song for what felt like a few hours!
Happily, Pat Sharpe woke us all up and was fab!

:DHya. I`ve only just found this site. I went to that weekend on the 14th March. I`m really old by the way! Went with my niece for my birthday. We had booked a sliver twin room, but were upgraded to a 2 bedroomed apartment. It was really nice.
We spent most of the time in the main place(was it centre stage?). I thought Mercury + Bad manners were awesome. Loved Orville! The drag queen was good outside, but it was freezing out there. We had such a laugh. Did anyone see that little old lady up on stage? She was so funny. Love her! And the 2 blokes that seemed to be doing everything on stage. Music, comedy, intros, they were fantastic. It really brought back brilliant memories, hearing everyone saying about the weekend. Really great crowd there. Look forward to seeing any pics on here. Best time I`ve had in years. Have booked now for the 70`s minehead weekend in October. Did you all dress up on the Saturday?
Bye.....x;)

Debsy is actually 78 but has had a lot of work done. She has had all major organs replaced, including having an additional liver put in as reserve. Major face lifts so much that her belly button is now 6 inches higher. And she can't stop telling lies about her age, which is a well known side effect of botox. I keep telling her to be proud of reaching 78 and still looking that good.

I had never been to Butlins till March. Always heard it wasnt very clean, and adult weekends a bit rough. I feel 20 yrs younger since I come back. It was the most brilliant weekend I`ve had probably! The range of ages there was great. Our apartment was spotless, bit of a trek there though. It certainly wasnt rough. There was plenty of fun going on everywhere till all hours. Us included. I`m a Butlins convert now. We booked for the 70`s weekend in October. My niece is now planning after Xmas! I really loved the fancy dress on the Saturday. Did you see all those sumo wrestlers and bill and ben in the flower pots. Awesome time!!!! Cant stop talking about it.
Bye....x x;)
Bill and Ben were not very happy with us as we watered them!!!!!!!!! lol
