Yea thats right I think they are in a really good place, not far to stagger home or even just nip back to the chatet for anything at any time. I reckong you will eat in the resturant below reds not sure what this is called though, but then again, I was once in silver half board and quite a way down and we had to eat in the place off the skyline. x

We have booked Standard half board (rooms) for that weekend. I didn't give any thought to what dining room we were going to eat in. I am going to request Ocean Drive just incase they pust us in Coral Beach (I think thats what the resturant under reds is called). We prefer Ocean Drive as there is a door greater who is absolutley fantasic - always cheerful and friendly to everyone ( I think his name is Richard?).
I am wondering if the Standard half board rooms are single storey? My mum is in a wheelchair and cannot walk very well so we are hoping they are groung floor. There was no ease of access left or diabled chalets left so we took a chance.

Yes there are single storey, if your mum cant walk very well you might be better with the resturant under reds as it is so so so close, and you are doing the right thing stopping in these as they by far the closest to the everything, so handy to pop back to room at anytime if you forget some etc etc, x

Hi. I'm new =) I've been a 'guest' since December last yr. Was trying to pluck up the courage to post and become an official member.
I too am going on this break thanks to Mr Tesco :Banane35:. We are going Standard self catering at Skeggy. Does that mean we will be in the 2 floor blocks near the duck pond - from the nursery to big car park?
We normally go Silver (lush) but this time have downgraded as less of us are going and we now dont need a microwave and luxuries :nono:
Anyone wanna meet up and have a few giggles?

Sounds like lots of us are going on this weekend - maybe we could like arrange something to meet up - or if we just see each other around the resort just say 'Hiya' or something :D
Personally if RUSP is on you will see me and a friend running around like mad trying to get Tarrenteano lots of votes (not that they need them!!!), whenever its on Me and the Mate im meeting have decided to queue up for it as we want a front seat - so if your passing Centre Stage (If its still on in there!!) dont forget to come and say Hello :D

The Standard Self Catering Appartments are behind Bobs Yard. We always stay in these if we can, that way you don't have to walk very far to get to the Skyline etc. I even book a Standard Self Catering Appartment if we are going half-board - that way we have more room.
We have booked a Standard Half Board room this time as there was no Standard Appartments available for us at the time of booking.

My mum uses a wheelchair so it doesn't matter which dinning room we use, I think my mum is going to hire out a electric scooter (watch out Butlins - she is a menace on one of those lol).
We prefer Ocean drive as we have got used to the layout and staff and we love the atmosphere.

the train from leeds to grantham was an intercity 125,brilliant.
but from grantham to skegness it was more like a cattle truck,no where for luggage to go,i had to sit in the doorway and move luggage everytime someone wanted to pass.

we will be too, i think? either a 'Neon' theme or just normal Haloween Dress up, i'm not sure yet..... got to sort it out soon, with all the different people i have arranged to meet with
and i know what you mean about the train thing.... comfortable 'National Express East Coast' service from Doncaster to Grantham and then possibly the slowest 'East Midlands Trains' service from Grantham to Skegness - mind you we did pull into skegness aroun 5 or 10 minutes earlier than we should have done. we too also had to leave our luggage near the doors, with Mum checking on it at every stop on the way.... would use the train again i think (who knows if the Coaches will be back on next summer...!!)

but from grantham to skegness it was more like a cattle truck,no where for luggage to go,i had to sit in the doorway and move luggage everytime someone wanted to pass.
We went to Butlins by train in July.
On the way up there it wasn't too bad as my sister took our luggage. On the way back it was mayhem as we had to take most of our luggage with us (my sister was there fri-mon and we were there fri-fri and took back the luggage we had finished with as she went by car)
When we go in October my sister will be taking our luggage again (hopefully) so it won't be too bad.
I have booked again for next year (11th - 18th September) and we are going to hire a mini bus as we don't want to go by train with luggage and 2 buggies (I have a 1 year old and 4 year old - my 4 year old still uses a buggy over certain distances as she has RSS (a from of drawfism and she is the height of a 12-18 month old and she tires easily).
Going by train is ok if you haven't got a lot of luggage (1-2 cases at the most) and have no young children in buggies.

If you are going silver rooms HB which are near the tennis courts, you will be dinning in coral beach dinner that is under reds. If you are in standered rooms which are in single rows called pacific walf infront of red then you will be dinning in ocean drive which is in the skyline. The standered appartments Hb are behind bobs yard, and also dine in ocean drive. The silver appartments Hb are at the end on star fish quay which dine in coral beach

Hi Queenie,
from past experience I think they will do the fireworks on the saturday night that way if it rains hard they have the oppotunity to move them to the sunday night.
I very much doubt they will do fireworks on saturday night as that is haunted funfair night x
Hope this helps.

Hi Queenie, I am kkbtb's sister, It would be nice to meet up with you, and Rebecca and Rani some point over the weekend. We should be at Butlins after 1-30pm on Friday as we are travelling by train, kkbtb is travelling by car and should be there around the same time or earlier (she is planning on leaving at 8 am and it is around about 3-4 hours journey by car with stops).
It will be easy to spot us we will have a lady in a wheelchair with us (our mum), kkbtb has 2 girls and a boy in a buggy and I have 2 girls in buggys and 2 older teenagers (one has just turned 2 and is going through the temper tantum stage and she can really scream - she spent most of our last Butlins Holiday in July having Temper Tantrums)

Hi Marie, I will sure look out for you over the weekend :Banane35:. I have a funny feeling I will be asking random strangers 'are you from the internet'? and maybe classed as a stalker.
I will have 2 children with me, my daughter who is 3 who wears a brown Dora coat and has her hair in pigtails and my son who will be in a Maclaren buggy with a dark green footmuff - no doubt he will be tantruming so thats a dead giveaway......we are staying in standard accom this time.......
Maybe we will see each other at the check-in?

2 Sleeps Left :D Well 1 for me because i probably wont sleep Thursday Night
Should be arriving in skeggy for 12:35 on friday ish! (Depending on coach)
I Dont know when but at some point over the weekend watch out for 3 or 4 people wearing 'I LOVE TARRANTEANO' tops - if you see us come and say hello :P
also we are in Standard HB accomodation so might see some of you at the chck in in the Skyline at 2:30pm maybe?

We are staying standard half board and our check in is 2-30pm in the Skyline, We will keep an eye out for you all.
Not long to go now, I have got to pack this afternoon as my youngest has an hospital appointment tomorrow afternoon and the suitcase has to be ready for pick up by tomorrow evening (kkbtb is taking the luggage in her car and the rest of us is travelling by train). At the moment my bed is covered by a mound of clothes lol.
I will have 2 light weigh bugies with me - one is a pink flowered mothercare jive stroller and the other is pink with flowers and has a hood, both of my little ones will be wearing their billy bear fleece jackets, they both look the same size even though one has just turned 2 and the other will be 5 in December.

Has anyone got any traditions or rituals that they always do the day before the holiday?
These are mine:-
1.Check that I packed everything I need.
2.Get together drinks and snacks and entertainment for the journey.
3.Make sure that the travel documents are in my bag with the train tickets.
4.Everyone has a bath before the hot water runs out (we have a water tank).
5.Takeaway for tea the evening.
6.Go on Butlins Memories
7.Check weather forcast for Skegness for the coming days)
8.Set my Alarm for 6am
When I was a kid we all had to have the night before the holiday (Butlins Skegness). When we ran the hot tap the water stayed cold, the hot water boiler had packed in and we had to boil kettles so we could have a hot bath, this was in the eighties - we were living in a council house and had the old style gas central heating and a water tank in an airing cupboard.
It took a long time for us all to have our baths (there were 4 of us).
Just a quick one to say have a fab time all you ones going at the weekend, I know Batman king of the guinea Pigs will be there to, you could have a mini met or a big met, as Debi and Anne will still be there around 2,30 on friday,
All you people should really swop a mobile number as I know how easy is to miss people, its such a big place!!! but if you are all queing to check in at 2,30 sure you will see each other, hope you have a good time as you did on the 80s KBTA sorry I think I got that wrong lol!!!
I will be there the following weekend at the 70s !! bring it on again!! xx
Queenie
29-10-08, 08:05 PM
If anyone wants my mobile number.........please PM me and I'll let you have it. You dont have to ring me to arrange a meet just a text will do
I dont think I'll see you at check in after all........I'm self catering so I'll be at the other end :( but I'm sure I will spot you!

Hi All
We are home. We had secretely booked to go on half term week without telling anyone, made out to Raani and debi we were going for a day only turn up on monday show them our keys and say we are staying till friday.
Samuel had a great week and misses his mates already like crazy.
We had a stressful week will write a report and post pics later and also need to write a complaint letter to bourne leisure xx
^ sorry to hear that, Anne. I hope you managed to have a good time in between stressful parts or was it all bad? :(

It was good because we were at butlins the main problem was our chalet was in the middle of the group of french kids and they were so noisy and they also kept coming into chalet.
I complained several times but they couldnt move us. When i complained to one organiser of the group i was told "i wasnt very british" then i had a go at another leader as he tried to get into our chalet. I said there group has ruined our holiday the reply i got was "good"
So will be writing a formal complaint to bourne about it.
Also Johnathan wasnt well during the week at one point an ambulance was called.

Really sorry to hear that Anne, it's not on at all for them to walk into your chalet.
Hope that Johnathan is feeling better now?

Sorry to hear about your experience.
How is Johnathan now?
I can't believe they think it's okay for people to just come into your chalet like that. :(

Johnathan still not feeling great need to phone the doctors again tomorrow think i need to demand tests again for epilepsy.
The french kids and organisers didnt seem to think there was a problem Im in the process of writing a nasty letter to bourne leisure, When i rebooked for May i said to the bloke i hope the french wont be there and he agreed its out of order.
Made me think back so much to our holiday 2 weeks previous where everyone was so friendly, and i found it very hard to think that a group of youngsters could ruin my vision and love for my beloved butlins. Thankfully they played sunshine lollipops several times on the last day as i really felt i had fallen out of love with a place i adore. :hurt:
