Hey there
Well we have also booked up for this weekend in silver self catering after 2 great adult breaks at the Skegness 80s in Feb and Skegness 90s in May weekends. So really looking forward to it!
8 of us going to this one from little old Corby and it should be an awesome weekend, never been to minehead so it all adds to the excitement! Can't wait, im counting down the days!
Rob
HI Rob welcome to the forum, glad to hear you have enjoyed your previous adult breaks at Skeggie, we are all looking forward to the 80s weekend in October, I hope you come back on hear and let us all know what you thought to minehead, some love it, some prefer skeggy, so I am very curious to know what you think, I know Skarky says it is full of Welsh people ( not that I have anything against Weleh people) hope you have a great time xx

Thanks Debsy for the welcome!
I have been a long time lurker and finally decided to sign up! Yeah the Skeggy weekends were awesome, it was our first time in Feb at the 80s reloaded and we have caught the bug. I would have gone to Skeggy for the skool reunion if it was the same weekend as minehead as it is closer, only a 90 minute drive (and the fact i love it in Ingoldmells/Skeggy anyway), but trying minehead should be fun and i am sure we will have a great time regardless! I am even looking forward to the 4hr drive :)
We did look at the 80s one you are all going to, but some of us work weird dates/shifts (7 on 7 off etc) so Minehead is the date we can all make it! I will definately let you know what i think of Minehead however. We may have to tag along to the next forum get together too :)
Lisa are you going with a group?
Rob
Glad to see we have some more converts to the adult weekend, and glad you have joined and not just kept looking, nice to have more new members.
I have never done a school reunion weekend, I am think I might a little old for one of those!!!! I love the 70s weekends , with the 80s been a close second, please let us know how it goes at minehead, I dont envy your drive home though!!!! Bad enough coming back from Skeggy. x

Well only 63 more days to go! I am counting down all the days, reading Kaths and Disco Kevs reports on their Adult Weekend in Minehead has got me much more excited! There are now 9 of us going instead of 8 as another friend has decided he would come no matter the cost, so booked up one of the last remaining single rooms last night! The group seems to be getting bigger by the minute as there are 2 more really wanting to come too!
All we need now is some fancy dress costumes!!!!
Roll on the 28th November, it cannot come quick enough!
Also Debs, you are never too old, or too young for that matter (over 18 of course) for any of the adult weekends as they are all (and Butlins in general) awesome! Its all about the enjoyment!
Minehead we will soon be taking over! :)

Can i be really nosey and ask how much the single room is, I try to book singles, as I go on my own a few times, so book a single and its getting more and more expensive, but you so always get a double room x

Well, when i looked last night it was ?154 for a single room silver Dinner, Bed and Breakfast as that is all that they had for our friend! I assume this is what he payed, if he had another person it was only 204 for 2 people in the same and in standard D,B,B it was 190!

Lucky you I have done all my 08 breaks now, and so got a case of post butlins blues!! Got to wait until 09 now, but will get my fix reading your report on the weekend
Not sure it would be for me, as I think i might be too old, and the men will be young!!!
I am doing a 90s one next year and dont think that will be my scene, I love my 70s the best, soul weekends and the 80s but will try anything once, never been to Minehead hope you like the Welsh lol
Have a brill time and take lots of pictures, are you on Face book??? x

Thanks Debsy, im sure we will! Its horrible having the post butlins blues, i think it will hit me big time too after this one!
I will try and put a decent report up once im back, memory and alcohol poisoning permitting :). And i will definately take lots of pictures, thats all i end up doing at these weekends lol.
I think you will be suprised about the variety of people on the 90s weekend, obviously the music is what it is but i was suprised with the amount of different age groups that were there so you may be suprised at the age of some of the men ;).
I am on Facebook (Robert Steven Scott), i will post my pictures there and here once i have them! Can't wait now 2 weeks today i will already have lost my voice and be slightly drunk lol :)
NO need to rub it in lol!!! I keep thinking to last week and what I was doing right now, and the great time I had over the weekend it was fab.
You comment on the age of the men, did not surprise me, there would there to oggle the young birds lol, I am not that young myself, but cetainly dont go for the old men!!
My name I Debra Donald I will add you then you can look at lots of 80s pictures from the forum met and some from the 70s, hope your ready !!!! xx
Im gonna be there!! cannot wait!! Am goin with my other half, hes bro and my mate so just the four of us. Its the first time any of us have been to one of these adult weekends and we're really looking forward to it!
Have been Butlins quite a few times with our daughter whos a massive fan but thats only to the bognor one too so minehead will be a totally new experience!

There is a few sep threads for this weekend, I did post that there was already a thread started for it, so there is few from the forum going, you lucky people, there is some forum members down at bognor for the 80s weekend this weekend, heard from Mrs B she is having a great time xxx

So, with only 4 sleeps to go, i have found out i need to MOT and tax my car before i go away! Not the most ideal of situations but needs must! It has not dampened my spirits (although it might when i get the bill lol), and we all cannot wait to get to Minehead.
Just a couple of questions for people that know Minehead though.
1. Is there much in the town centre in Minehead? We rarely go off site when at butlins but sometimes its nice to have a look, and in Skeggy during the day we have a wonder off site before returning to the camp after an hour or so. We may be turning up too early to enter teh camp so having something to do for a couple hours would be good!
2. In skeggy, especially in February and March at the 80s and 90s weekend, you were allowed to take some alcohol into the skyline during the day so you could sit and listen to the DJ play some musc and have a few of your own without buying too much in the day. It was a good idea i think and they only allowed it in the skyline and i think centre stage. Do they allow this in Minehead? It doesnt really bother me, but its nice to find out before hand.
Anyway if anyone can help great if not nevermind. Roll on the 28th and Roll on the Skool Reunion (Sorry Debsy :) )

ONce again Mad house SHUT UP!!! sorry to hear about the car hope it was not as much as mine the mot and service needed something on the brakes was nearly 500!!! so fingers crossed for you
They dont allow in the centre stage at SEkggy, but people do smiggle it in, they do to all the venue, but the skyline is know for people taking there own, or buying from the shop, I would think the skyline at minehead is the same, but as i have never been i cant really say, but the skyline at minehead is now totally different to skeggy, they have ripped a lot of things out so they can have the big concerts in there, martin (dmjp from here) thinks they have ripped the heart out of it, and its not a nice, you will have to see, and tell me what you think to minehead on the whole for adult weekends, hope you like the welsh lol, lots of them go, cant wait for your report, bet you have a blast of a time, have you got your shorts and cap at the ready?? x

Me im hoping for 200 max! ALthough my breaks will probably let me down! Im keepiing everything crossed.
Hmm, it will be interesting to see the difference from Minehead skyline and Skegness skyline as i thought they would be quite similar. I couldnt rememeber if it was centre stage as well with the booze but i remember sneaking a bottle of vodka in there one night lol. I just thought it was a good idea in the skyline during the day as it made it quite busy!
As for fancy dress im not going as a typical school dressed guy. Im actually dressing up as a character that was big whilst i was at school (Super Mario), just so its something different. I read a thread on here about ideas for the fancy dress and soemone mentioned about going as something that was popular when i was at school. Fantastic idea i thought! Noone else needs to understand as long as my group does :)
Eithet way it should be great! :)
Good luck on the brakes, all mine was the abs kept kicking and thinking i was ice and it was little washers from each side that had cracked, and of course you could not just get the washers you had to get the whole new unit!!!
I think all camps do the adult weekends differently, waiting to hear from Mrb and Mikeeeeeeeeee ( although I think he has disappeared at bognor somewere) on how the 80s one was there this weekend just gone, I know they start the evening entertainment a lot later there, I think Kev has scanned some of the entertainment leaflets you get from bognor and skeggy, so you can look on those, Skeggy is great for day stuff with at least two groups on in either reds or Centres then one on in Skyline at 4pm, so it keeps the afternoon going until its time to eat then get ready to start all over again, oh just talking about it now makes me want to be there so much, but sadley i have to wait unti 30th Jan before the soul weekend at skeggy, then they come quick and fast for the first part of 09!!! have fun and you will look great as super thingy I think its a great idea as everyone will be in school uniform, but i think one or two will have decided on something different, x
Does anyone know if there are any supermarkets on minehead camp which sell alcohol? thanks
Does anyone know if there are any supermarkets on minehead camp which sell alcohol? thanks
Everydays the shop on camp will, but its alot lot more expensive then tescos, or morrisons etc, try to take as much with you as poss, but dont over load the car, as they do say they can stop you taking too much in with you, but never happened at Skeggy xx
I have been absolutely rubbish at getting everything ready... I have a 5 month old and nearly 5 year old so trying to anything other than, cook, clean etc etc is right out the window.... lol.
Still havent sorted my fancy dress :o
ONLY 4 SLEEPS TO GO THOUGH!! :Banane25:
We're leaving around 10.30, have never been there before so not sure how long itl take... Cant wait though!!!!

if i can remember rightly from last month the venues opened at 9.00pm (reds and centre stage)
minehead town centre is walking distance there is wh smiths woolworths that sort of thing
i saw loads of people drinking their own alcohol in the skyline .
4 sleeps to go

Thats good to know. We are bringing our own alcolhol anyway but least now we know we can drink it somewhere other than our apartment without getting slapped wrists... ;)

lets party on
i wonder what colour wristbands we will get
Lisax
Do they give you wristbands when you get there yeah? Also does it matter if you check in later like say about 5.30 in the afternoon? thanks

Hi again, you will be given wristbands in your welcome pack when you check in, which includes your keys, entertainment guide, map of the camp etc etc, you need to sign for these, because lost wrist bands cost you 50 quid to replace, this is to stop "ghost" guests tagging along with people how have paid, and sharing there accommodation, as I think this has happened a lot in the past,
You will be find checking in at that time, I think after a certain time they take the keys/packs to guest services, but the people on the gate will inform you were to go when you arrive, you just need to show them your booking confirmation on arrival,
Have a brill time, not long now xxx

Well my brakes sound exactly like you described yours were! How very strange!
Looking forward to it now, only 3 more to go, and i have now finished work so i am free :), but im slightly dissapointed with an administration charge i am now going to have to pay out on. A friend who was coming has sadly had a death in the family and cannot make it, so another friend has said he can make it instead. Now without risking it i thought i would phone and ask to change the name only to be told i would have to pay another £20 quid. I could have changed the name myself in 5 seconds online. I shouldnt moan i guess but i hate paying out unnecessary fees.
Still roll on the 28th! :)
Edit - Had a good result i guess the lassie in the call centre was quite sympathetic and did it for nothing. There are still some good people in the world :)
Oh Madhouse, they never check names, wish you have pmed before hand, but still the girl was nice and did not charge you, but if you need to do it again, dont they never ever ever check, as long as the main person is there to sign for the wristbands etc etc, they dont even look at the others,
So is your car all done and sorted now????
Strange u say this Debsy, we had another reciept today (already recieved one about 2 weeks ago) for 2 weeks time.
Anyway this one has a perforated edge that we have to hand in to get our cards/keys and it has every single one of our 11 guests names on it.
On the other half of the reciept, again our names are all printed and it states that I have to keep it on me at all times!!!
Anyone any idea what the change is for?xx

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh thats new, they are maybe having a new system for getting in to stop those going without paying???? cos it still goes on, people manage to get spare arm bands etc etc,
Do you just have the one, or is there one for all the of the 11 people???
Did not get anything like this for skeggy, but i know all the booking comfirmatons for 09 have changed to what they were like this year??? xx
We just have the one reciept to be carried with you at all times...........now seen as I lose my wristband every time I go I am damn sure that I will not be the person carrying this reciept lolxx
I say "reciept" I have just relooked and it is offically called an entrance ticket!!
I don't like the sound of this at all!!! Sounds like yet more stuff to keep track of and try not to lose!!
Hopefully it is just an adult weekend thing and won't extend to the festive breaks??

Sam, how do you lose your wristband, you are meant to attach it to you wrist lol, so if you lost your band you lose your arm too!!!
I think they its just another frighten the punter thing, like with the booze thing on the pre arrival booket???? When you are in large group, you are not really going to stick together all the time, so if they stop one of the others they wont have it!!!
Entrance ticket mmmmm different name !!! xx

Hmm..... thats quite interesting becasue when we got the letter saying glad we are coming etc we did not get anything like this. Not even sure if they will send a letter with the ammended details in time. I am quite glad i did change then name now just incase.

I hate wearing the damn thing, makes me feel like I am in hospital lol so always carry it in my jeans. Then when I go to get cash out I lose it..........learnt my mistake after my hen party and will now wear it in 2 weeks time!
Out of 20 girls on my hen weekend 7 of us lost our bands by the last day, still we managed to get in everywhere we wanted by passing the bands backwards (How naughty!)xx
Good idea that passing it backwards!!! I must say I like wearing them, dont know why cos on all inclusive holidays, ( only been on a couple) I hated wearing them, but its part of the butlins weekend now, I hated the green though on the 80s weekend, green bands should be banned!!! Its not my fav colour at all and this green was so yuk, lime green would of been ok!! I love the bright pink and orange ones, silly arnt I lol!!!! took me a few days to cut it off too lol, xx

So the car is now all sorted, £154 pound all in which aint bad considering i also had to buy a new exhaust at £55, (which my brother kindly fitted before the MOT) so im pretty happy it was not as much as i thought.
2 sleeps to go, today has flew by which is great now just tomorro. Leaving about 8am on the Friday, its a 4 hourish drive. 2 sleeps to go. Im getting really excited. Everything sorted from fancy dress to alcohol! Roll on Friday! :)

Just a quick responce guys to say what an awesome weekend the Skool Reunion in Minehead was. I have been to 3 now and for atmosphere, especially on Saturday night, this was just as awesome as the Skegness ones (80s and 90s). The butlins adult breaks are just unbeatable and anyone who is down on them really needs to try one. Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere is unreal, never any hint of trouble and just one big party!
Made some awesome new pals and the guys who came for the first time couldnt believe it. I will definately put up a review of some sort very soon but my work is killing me at the moment and i have not time over the weekend, but it will be done!
Debsy, its a tough call between the two because i thoroughly enjoyed Minehead, it was fantastic, my only downer personally was all the guys at the doors either end of the skyline, they stopped and checked everything for alcohol, even my coffee lol, i can understand why but they were alot more relaxed with you taking things inside the Skyline in Skegness, they just stopped it in centre stage and Reds, maybe it has all changed, but if Minehead were the same it would probably be a tie with Skeggy it was that good. Skeggy edges it on that and the fact there is plenty to do off site if you do decide to go off. Cannot fault the staff or the atmospherse one bit! If i were grading it and it seems appropriate as it was Skool Reunion i would say A* definate. You did tell me about the welsh lol, i was joking that noone did but they were all good fun!
The skyline in Minehead is massive, at first i thought it was the same as Skegness but it is clearly miles bigger! Think we may try the bognor 90s in April or the Skool Reunion in Skegness in March. If i had my way id be at one before that too :). What is bognor like anyone?
LoLo glad to see you spotted me on Saturday, it was great as loads of people wanted pictures with me and my brothers as we were the only mario, luigi and toad there, but there was some cool fancy dress costumes all weekend!
That was meant to be short lol, nevermind review on the way guys! :)

Bognor's brilliant ... but don't think you can have a bad adult weekend at any of them by the sound of it.

Oh My god the booze thing they are so so strict, it is nothing like that at sleggy thank goddness, even checking coffee is taking things to far, so were you kind of strip seaching you??? and looking in all bags, that must of taken up so much time??? I hope they had lots more bar staff then Skeggy does to, the skeg line there is know for drinking your own, or buying from everydays!! Dont think I will be having a trip to minehead then, a friend of mine thinks they had ripped the heart out of the place making the skyline so big??? Do you agree
Glad the atmosphere was still as good though, when you have time would you let me know what acts were on etc etc, and do you have any pictures???
Thanks Debs x

Heya Debs
Just a quick reply before i go back to work again, The booze thing in the skyline was a bit rubbish to be honest, they did check the bags and stuff, there were a few lassies had bottles taken off them, they had about 3 or 4 poeple per door so it was pretty quick but they were strict and i think they could have been a bit more relaxed.
Il certainlly put some pictures on when i have time, im just snowed under at the moment, as for the acts they were pretty good. Just off hand Friday in Centre Stage was an Abba tribute, Tina Cousins, Michelle Gayle and i think it was Booty Luv, il have to check the guide as i actually was in Jaks most of friday so missed alot of what i wanted to see. I did here Chappers and Dave were there too playing Higher and Lower with womens Bra sizes which was a good bit of banter. :), but like i say i missed alot of Friday being in Jaks.
Saturday in Centre Stage was awesome, they had a really good Stereophonics tribute called Stereomanics, they sang alot of upbeaty rock songs from different bands, then the Scissor Sisterz tribute who were also excellent, the place exploded when I Dont Feel Like Dancing was played right at the end, they had a wee break with a disco and the Los Palmas 6???? i think they were called, was a madness tribute band who were also quality, all the hits as you can imagine, Luvstruck, House of Fun etc and they started with One Step Beyond which got the crowd going straight away. Then they had a disco till 4am, i remember really enjoying doing the YMCA ha ha :)
Il put more info up when i can but Sunday afternoon in Centre Stage, Keith Harris, Cuddles and Orville were absolute gold. For me the best act of the weekend i was in stitches. The man still has it.
Thats it for now, more to come when i have time :)

Saw them at Bognor last year at Disco inferno and you are spot on the whole gaff went balistic when they did it, everyone on the dance floor were all over each other not too mention all of the guys and girls dancing on the chairs and tables. Have to say that their whole act was a top top tribute and with a finale like that it left the whole place in raptures.
Cheers
