I came across this review on Trip Advisor.
We returned from erm.. all of six hours at this park. We left our booking until late meaning we ended up with a half board comfort chalet for 300 (what we wanted.) However upon arrival at the park we realised that it was nothing like we wanted.
First of all comes the accommodation, we were given and apartment at the back of the park, our apartment was actually a self-catering one complete with kitchen and lounge, the door outside wouldn't lock... great idea for the safety of your customers, then as we walked in the first smell that hit us was damp, the bathroom was unusable due to the mould stuck all around it, the 'kitchen' was small and tattered, not something a self-cater would want either. The beds are little camp beds that squeak with a simple movement, with a stinking room, a broken door and dirt everywhere needless to say we walked out and went straight back to reception.
Our second accommodation was now a chalet, however it was much like the first, the bathroom was damp and mouldy whilst even with every window open the smell was still there. The most (and only) amusing point was the fact that we visited this site 10 years ago when it was a Butlins, nothing has changed since.
For our third chalet we were met by a manager, this was another damp chalet, when we mentioned that, one the shower was on the small side for a tall person, the manager told us her 6"2 son was fine in those showers (the measurement we stated for ourselves a few seconds before. ) Now with three unsucessful rooms we went back to confirm that we were fed up with these musical rooms and wanted to leave the park.
At the reception getting ready to speak to another manager we stumbled across another couple, a young couple with two small children who had forked out 700 pounds (full price) for a holiday they weren't enjoying they told us they had 'put up and shut up' for a few days however they were now fed up and wanted Haven to sort it out, they were given a new room. How that went, we do not know. However we were offered a caraven for an extra 150, after seeing the park an offer we refused to take. After many hours of talking and more and more people involved, they agreed to a full refund and so we left the park. We didn't expect to get the refund however it did turn up a few days later, really unexpected, however the point of it wasn't just the refund, it was the families queing up to stop their holidays, to ask for their money, only to get another room and a women in your face telling you that you "get what you paid for."
Haven's big line "You get what you pay for." Many people paid the full price for their holiday as the couple above paying nearly 700 pounds that must mean that there holiday should be good, they should check in and not be seen until they check out a week later with smiles on their faces thanking them for a great holiday. Our holiday was only 300 because it was booked on the internet, yes it may have been cheaper as it was close to the start date however we were offered a chalet, good food and entertainment, none of these we recieved.
This brings us to the main point of Haven, false advertising, how can they get away with bigging up their park? Haven's advertising shows us their family entertainment, lets start with their daytime shows, the well.. non-existent ones, little shows were on in the daytime, maybe a few to meet a character here and now, we saw no pantomimes, no funstar shows, no daytime shows and no games or competitions, so if they are not going to let us see these 'fantastic' shows, why are they on their website? After visiting Butlins we were looking forward to the promised evening shows, instead we were faced with bingo every night, without the tribute acts or party specials. One again Hafan Y Mor seem to have led us astray with what they advertise in their park and what actually happens.
Whilst most other facilities at Hafan Y Mor were also placed there to disappoint. The Hafan Y Mor swimming pool, instead of "many fun water activities" we were faced with a packed swimming pool and a lifeguard blowing the whistle at children let loose by their parents now causing havoc, needless to say this was found all around Hafan Y Mor. Whilst the golf course was jammed and the 'bowling centre' had been whittled down to two small lanes, people were already queing 20 minutes early for our half board dinner, our diner cafe with the vague smell of burnt school dinners, once again their false advertising.
Websites like this allow us to tell people 'NEVER go to Hafan Y Mor, if you are a half-boarder looking for a damp chalet, an endless school operation for your food and fthe feeling of being cheated out of all your holiday money then go for this, however in my experience i have never met anyone who wants this. If you are a self-cater in a caravan then we can only advise you to stay here if you are not planning on staying in the park, otherwise you too will be disappointed.
Obviously people are still staying here, who knows some may enjoy the whole thing, however the unhappy faces we saw walking away to yet another room show that more people need to get rid of Hafan Y Mor's most famous lines, "shut up and put up", we pay for these holidays and without all the bantering we did we may have walked away without a slight refund, so if you find an unhappy holiday, tell them and pester until you get what you deserve. Lastly the women who tells everyone, "you get what you pay for." What you pay for makes no difference to how you should be treated, an offer for a holiday is an offer no matter how much it knocks off the price.
With many complaints our Consumer Direct advisor phoned us to ask about our holiday, he is now asking for a letter to be put together and passed onto Haven, this is where we ask any past Hafan Y Mor visitors for help. If you have had a bad experience then please feel free to get in contact to put with us, if you have any pictures of accommodation or the park please get in touch. If you feel like writing a letter yourself then send it to your local Consumer Direct advisor who will filter it to Haven. Maybe then something can be done about Hafan Y Mor and stop many more families being misled and then losing their hard earned money.

That review, isnt the only one that I have seen. There's a lot more that are negative about Pwlhelli. Haven should quit whilst they're ahead. I hate to see the place I had my best childhood memories, turned into a lame camp. So sad :( :( :(
