    Default Warners Historic Hotels

i do not know if this is off subject but I have just returned from Warners Norton Grange classic resort and have just booked to visit Nidd Hall in November.

Anyone visited a Classic Resort and Historic Hotel and what are different from the resorts and hotels?

Is there such a thing as a warners holiday camp anymore?

Or do they just deal with country houses now?

Yes there are a few camps left. About 5 I think they are called 'classic resorts'. My sister works in the entertainment department at Lakeside on Hayling Island. They are adult only, all half board and the guests stay in chalets ~ somE single rooms are very, very small with just enough room for bed, wardrobe and ensuite. Day time entertainment includes realaxation activities like spas and swimming, they still do sporting competitions and pub quizzes. I think there is bingo every night and then enetertainment, similar to centre stage shows and also have guest appearances e.t.c She has meet lots of famous and not quite so fammous names. Hope this answers your question.

Apart from the accomadation differences, from what I have heard the hotels are either character (set in areas of beauty or significance) or historic. I think the facitlies and entertainmant are along the same sort of lines, though some specialise in certain things like one has a spa like skeggy and onother has its own wildlife centre. The charcter hotels have vast ground and sporting activities like biking e.t.c. Thats all I can remeber from what me sister says and the brochures she has brought home.

I thought Stevie Dee was in charge of all Warners/Butlins ents team auditions.

Hi ya I'm not sure about Butlins but yes thats right, the person who is top of the ladder so to speak and who the completed applications go is Stevie Bee (not Dee).

The auditons for the entertainments staff are held at Lakeside on Hayling Island and My sister holds them and consequesly says yay or nay. lol Sometimes poeple do contact the resort without going through the cv and writing off for application form etc get an audition a lot quicker.
I'm sure Mr Bee has a lot of important roles and jobs to do.

Its a job that does actually have a very high turnover of staff. They also have waiting lists of the poeple that are good enough and offer them a job as soon as one comes up.

    Default Warners Lakeside

I would like to know why the holidays at these resorts are so expensive. Why do disabled people have to pay a supplement, this is not entirely fair. We are hoping to go there next year but it is going to cost us a ?100 than it does at Hemsby. HELP I WILL HAVE TO START SAVING NOW. has anyone been to there, what is the food like, it looks very nice in the brochure. How big are the double rooms.

    Default Lakeside Hayling Island

    Hi sweetdenzy,
I've been to Lakeside once a couple of years ago and had a great time. I don't know why disabled people pay a supplement, that seems a bit unfair, but the place is very well maintained and the staff incredibly helpful, the rooms very comfortable and the food is very very good. Entertainment is what you might expect from a holiday camp although with maybe not as much going on during the day as Butlins, but the evenings are great.
I also have been to Sinah Warren on Hayling Island which was also very good, if anything slightly better than Lakeside. I just prefered the layout of Sinah Warren. Sinah Warren has a separate restaurant and Ballroom, which I liked, whereas at Lakeside the dining room and ballroom are the same room and I found this a bit of an odd arrangement.
I do find Warners expensive, but you really do get what you pay for!
    I hope this helps
    Richard :P
