    Default Minehead April 2017

Not so much forthcoming as just got back from there, 20 years since I first went to Minehead.

This year's changes that I noticed:

    Amenities:
    Pizza Hut replaced with Ludos
Finnigans currently closed for a refit (will still be a chippie after, don't know if it will have a new name)
Jaks seems to have fallen out of use altogether now
Bungie Jump moved from next to Bar Rosso to next to Burger King
New guest helpdesk manned by a redcoat during daytime hours where the Bungie Jump used to be
Hot Dog & Pancake stands moved to outside Jaks
Spar franchise has ended and the two shops are now branded 'The Supermarket' (although the receipts say Everydays)
Bake & Bite and Proper Cornish now amalgamated into 1 unit which trades as Proper Cornish from the Bake & Bite Unit
'The Somerwest Showband' house band gone but not replaced with anything

    Accomodation:
Surfer's Point has new signeage (in red lettering, could be a deliberate nod to the past, could be chance)
The 'Straight' rows in Holnicote completely refurbished. Now have double glazing, a private patio outside each unit with the walkway moved to the middle of the row, new multicolour pastel colour scheme outside. Barely recogniseable. The 'angled' rows are still the same but were getting new beds whilst I was there.
Oyster Bay in the process of being refurbished - new paintwork and double glazing. Only about 25% of the blocks are done but there doesn't appear to be any ongoing work and the unrefurbished blocks are still in use so looks like the rest will be done over the winter.

    Things that never change:
The Highwayman is still there, still almost but not quite officially the staff bar, so guests can still go in for a drink.
The remaining 1976 flatlets still somehow haven't fallen down yet
The newer flatlets are looking more and more tatty, they still haven't done anything with the one that is borded up after the fire.
